Importance of Bone Health for Young Women

Naomi Loomis knows first hand the importance of bone health in women. After being diagnosed with Osteoporosis at the young age of 39, she has decided to dedicate her time to helping individuals with Osteoporosis and preventing others from getting diagnosed. Though it is possible for both men and women to develop Osteoporosis at any age, it is most common in older women.  Osteoporosis develops over time, causing bones to become porous and fragile. This makes it easier for bones to break, making even the slightest bumps and falls much more dangerous. Osteoporosis is a serious condition, but it can be prevented with a healthy lifestyle and proper care for one’s bones.

Naomi Loomis teaches her daughter about the dangers of Osteoporosis and how important it is for her to take care of her body.  Young women have the opportunity to take steps to prevent Osteoporosis from developing later in life.

By taking steps early, young women can actually build stronger and healthier bones, making it less likely for their bones to become weak and porous overtime.

bone health for young women

Here are a few steps every young woman should take to ensure the health of her bones:

  1. Make sure to take in enough calcium, whether it be through supplements or diet.
  2. Eating a well balanced diet can help with bone strength while also improving overall health.
  3. Limit alcohol consumption.
  4. Don’t smoke cigarettes.
  5. Exercise regularly.
  6. Be aware of eating disorders and their warning signs. Eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia can cause bones to weaken and lead to a multitude of other health issues.

Naomi Loomis understands the importance of bone health at any age. However, she emphasizes how vital it is for young women to take steps early to maintain strong and healthy bones. Osteoporosis can be prevented. The earlier young women begin protecting their bones, the stronger they become in the fight against Osteoporosis.
